Payback’s a Bitch

S16_4514Florida Speaker of the House Richard Corcoran used his bully pulpit earlier this year to establish a name for himself among the electorate in preparation for his anticipated run for the Governor's office next November. It was Corcoran that led the charge against Visit Florida, crippling the State's Marketing efforts in the name of "transparency."

Friday, Senate Republican Jack Latvala (left, who is also expected to run next year) took aim at Corcoran in what will likely turn into a nasty little internecine war within the Party. Latvala lashed out at Corcoran, charging him with "trying to make headlines, trying to raise (his) name identification" and producing legislation that ultimately hurts the State's efforts in economic development.

He went on to say, “I don’t know if the House Speaker understands that or frankly cared."

Which is what virtually everybody watching the legislative shit show this spring knew.

But now, someone from his own Party has said it.

Corcoran shot back that “Florida taxpayers demand transparency and accountability."

No they don't. Most couldn't care less. And, Sparky? Most had absolutely no problem with the way Florida Tourism was being marketed...until you told them they should.

And now, someone from your own Party has finally called you out on what you've done to the taxpayers you claim you represent.
