Virginia is for Everyone

SFLIn the aftermath of this past weekend's tragedy in Charlottesville, the ad agency that created the iconic "Virginia is for Lovers" brand and logo has updated the message to "Virginia is for Everyone."

Which we, in the Destination Marketing and Perception field say a lot when governments pass bathroom bills and other anti-LGBT legislation. Inclusion is an important message for us to convey each and every day.

But saying everyone is welcome isn't exactly true. We don't welcome those who hate, those who want to destroy our communities or those who want to kill. Thus, in the literal sense, our destinations are not for everyone.

I do, however, love the accompanying hashtag: "StandForLove."

Yeah...much more powerful.

Let's go with that.
