As the Destination Marketing arena becomes increasingly complex, DMOproZ strives to provide an easily accessed Knowledge Bank for DMO pros around the world. From White Papers to cutting edge Research to our recommendations on books to make you think, videos to encourage your creativity and blogs to keep you current.

And, we want this to be a two-way street. When you see a great resource that would be a benefit to the DMO collective, shoot it our way and we'll post it up for your peers.

Beverly ’Guitar’ Watkins

BevAs the notes that accompany today's Music Friday video say, "can your grandmother do this?"

Beverly 'Guitar' Watkins is likely the most influential blues guitarist you've never heard of. An unsung guitar legend, known for her attacking style (and playing her guitar behind her head), John Lennon listed her as one of his influences.

While she started playing the guitar at a young age and sessioned with James Brown and Ray Charles, it wasn't until she was 60 that she released her first album in 1999. She continued playing live until she suffered a stroke this past July.

She departed terra firma this week...and we say godspeed with "Gimme Some Funk" from a club date in Athens GA in 2013.
