Free-Agent, Lisa Block, Joins Velvet Chainsaw

While many have been focused this winter on who is going to land free agents like Bryce Harper or Manny Machado, Lisa Block inked a deal to join the Velvet Chainsaw Consulting team!

Lisa will join our team just in time for opening day – April 2, 2019 – as Executive Vice President, Conference Strategy & Design.

Lisa is one of the most respected, innovative and experienced event strategy professionals in the majors. Since 1991, she has been responsible for growing and innovating the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM’s) event portfolio. During her tenure, the Annual Conference (SHRM’s signature event) has grown to attract over 22,000 participants and more than 700 exhibiting companies.

Leader and Mentor

As Vice President of Events at SHRM, Lisa led a highly-skilled team of 15 professionals who were responsible for pulling together every facet of SHRM’s brand-defining event portfolio. Always pushing the envelope, the SHRM team earlier this month successfully designed SHRMLive, a virtual event attracting over 7,000 participants.

Over the years, Lisa has been very active with the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) where she served on numerous committees and as Board Chair. In 2013 she was awarded PCMA’s highest honor for lifetime achievement. She has also served on ASAE’s Meetings and Expositions Council and as an adjunct member of the ASAE Board of Directors. Lisa was inducted into the Inaugural Washington, D.C. BizBash Hall of Fame and has been named a featured Changemaker by MeetingsNet.

Personally, I’ve been a big fan of Lisa’s! I admire her strategic mind, innovative ideas and leadership qualities. We’ve known each other for over 20 years and have successfully worked together on several consulting gigs and industry presentations. I’m confident that she will add tremendous value to our client projects and recommendations. Lisa will work from her home in Washington, D.C.

Please join me in welcoming Lisa to the VCC team!
